Do Tattoos Hurt?
In short: Yes.
But generally, I found some places hurt more than others. I found my palms and my feet hurt more than, say, my shin and general arms. But some have shocked me and REALLY hurt when I didnβt think it would.
Which Tattoo Hurt The Most?
Iβd be more than happy to admit my left foot and my left palm absolutely wrecked me, as did the small ones I have on my hips.
Are Tattoos Expensive?
Yes and no, it depends on what your tattooer charges and for what. Some tattooers charge by the piece and by the hour for larger pieces. I think for the most part, I would rather pay a little bit more to be assured Iβm not going to get a shit quality tattoo.
Do You Regret Any Of Your Tattoos?
I wouldnβt say regret, as such, but theres some I wish Iβd have gotten later on or in a different place or even by a different artist – but I donβt HATE any of my tattoos.
Would You Get Your Face Tattooed?
If my work were okay with it, and future employers would allow it etc, I would absolutely get my face tattooed. I know exactly what I want tattooed on my face.
Who Do You Go To?
At the moment, and for the foreseeable future, I go to Kurt Marlow in Walsall. But I have been to a few different tattooers over the twelve years Iβve been getting tattooed.
Do You Only Go To One Person?
Not as such, My last bunch of tattoos have been done by Kurt and his apprentice did one on the back of my leg – though I would feel like Iβm cheating if I went somewhere else at the moment as I am really enjoying being tattooed by Kurt.
How Do You Care For Your Tattoos?
The advice I was given was to keep it covered in the clingfilm for as long as possible, I usually get tattooed in the morning so it has the whole day to be covered, and in the evening when Iβm settling down, Iβll wash it with antibacterial soap, and pat dry with clean towel. Iβll use an odourless moisturiser, I used to use bepanthen – then I changed to vaseline aloe spray, but I found that didnβt keep me moisturised enough, I now use LUSH dream cream, plus itβs cruelty free and vegan. But I can only say, take the advice from your tattooer.
What Made You Decide You Wanted Tattoos?
I donβt know, really, I guess I just really liked looking at other peopleβs when I was growing up, and I guess I find that the more tattoos I get the more βmeβ I feel.
Do You Want To Be A Tattooer?
No, no I donβt. Aside from the fact I cannot draw strongly enough to warrant me being a tattooer, I have a really big issue with touching strangers.
How Old Were You When You Got Your First Tattoo?
I was nineteen.
When Do You Think You Will Stop?
I donβt know, I suppose when I am happy with my coverage, I wouldnβt go over and over the same spots, but I would maybe black out a little bit of my left arm. I definitely donβt want a body suit, but I would like a LOT more coverage than what I have now.
What Was You First Tattoo?
It was a music note on my right arm, but I have it covered now. It wasnβt a regret, but I definitely wasnβt the same person I was when I was nineteen when I decided to work on my sleeve.
Would You Ever Get A Tattoo Removed?
Iβve heard they really hurts, so probably not. I canβt think of anything I would rather do less, than pay to get a tattoo then pay to get it removed, then pay to get a tattoo over the top of it.
Whatβs Your Next Tattoo?
Ahhh – I have a few in mind, I wanna get my left lower arm covered/re worked, and I wanna get more added to my lower left leg, but who knows where itβll be, I donβt really plan for things like that.
How Long Do They Take?
It honestly varies by the piece, if I get a larger piece Iβll sit for two to three hours if Iβm feeling brave, but mostly, I book for shorter bursts because I tend to get a bit poorly afterwards. Sitting for a longer period of time, I feel, is brutal, itβs tiring and itβs not fun once youβve reached your limit.
Bet You Love Boys With Tattoos?
I mean, I prefer to date alternative boys, and they tend to come with tattoos, but I donβt date people specifically for their tattoos. Iβve been the more heavily tattooed member out of the two (of us).
Have You Ever Tapped Out?
No, Iβve toughed them all out, even the ones Iβve thought were unbearable, I have gritted my teeth and tried not to cause too much of a fuss, thought Iβve never screamed the place down – thats ridiculous. I always go into a tattoo thinking itβs gonna kill, and have been pleasantly surprised. But my palms for example, I was in a lot of pain for those. I think the term tapping out is really shitty, sit for as long as you can take.
Would You Ever Get A Coverup?
Yes, I have one, as I mentioned, I would consider other coverups if I decided that the tattoos I have in areas no longer served places for tattoos I want. Thereβs nothing wrong with getting coverups, you change and develop as a person so I feel itβs to be expected.
Whatβs Your Favourite Tattoo?
I donβt have one, I love them all for different reasons.
